About Us

Dr Kylie Kim BVSc

I started Sunset Vet Care because I believe at-home euthanasia provides a far more comfortable and safe experience for you and your pet in their final moments. I have many beautiful memories of home euthanasias from my extensive time as a companion vet and wanted more people to have access to this service.

My family moved to New Zealand from Korea when I was 12 years old. I attended Rangitoto college before moving to Palmerston North to follow my childhood dream of becoming a vet. Since graduating in 2013, this career has taken me around the world and I’m now living in the Eastern bays with my growing family, which includes my fluffy white dog Twiggy and voluptuous cat Arya.

As a seasoned veterinary professional, I’ve had the good fortune of working in various clinics in different parts of the world. After studying at Massey University, I went on to work at a clinic in Pukekohe for two years, treating medical issues, performing surgeries, and building meaningful relationships with clients and their beloved pets. My passion for veterinary care took me across the globe to Europe, where I worked in England for two years, followed by a brief stint in Australia and various clinics around Auckland including an emergency clinic. Though I enjoyed all aspects of general practice for the past 10 years, I’ve since moved away from clinic work to focus on in-home euthanasia services. This enables me to provide a highly personalised service to people in their time of need, and spend more time with my young children.
